Marjolijn Dijkman:

COMMA 02
5 - 21 March 2009

Marjolijn Dijkman's evocative images demonstrate her ongoing investigation into representations of the world. Dijkman is interested in place, how we find a sense of place and how the human can be seen in every intervention in the landscape, be it accidental or with purpose.

For COMMA, Dijkman occupied the rear gallery with an epic photographic installation where hundreds of images flooded the space; each pasted directly or projected on to the walls. The images were taken from her ongoing work Theatrum Orbis Terrarum (Theatre of the World) where images she has taken across the world are categorised under headings such as Abandon, Cheer Up, Prohibit, Turn Inside Out.

Marjolijn Dijkman (b.1978) lives and works in Rotterdam.
